SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15th ACTIVITIES

Fly Fishing Related Activities - You Can Participate!

  • Fly Casting Skills Development course where FFI certified Fly Casting instructors can help you with fly casting whether you are a beginner or experienced. This will take place throughout the day.

  • Introduction to Fly Casting throughout the day where even if you have never had a fly rod in your hand you will learn how to cast it.

  • Fly Fishing Skills Stations where you can interact with guide level fly fishers and learn about knots & rigging and fly tying.

  • Introduction to Fly Fishing workshops - 3 hours of learning the basics of fly fishing. Two opportunities for this workshop - one morning, one afternoon.

    • 10:00 am to 1:00 pm or 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm

     

  • Learn tips on How to Fly Fish the Lower Yuba River with Clay Hash of Fly Fishing Traditions as your teacher. This is a 2 ½ hour presentation where you will learn about the Lower Yuba River, its seasons, and the tactics and flies to be successful.

River Related Learning Activities


We will have Conservation organizations and local Watershed organizations attending. All groups focus on Northern California fishery and water-related issues. The groups will present information at scheduled talks in the morning & afternoon. Stop at their booths to see the schedule or for in-depth discussions.

  • Learn About Entomology - the study of and importance of “bugs.” Two bug specialists will teach you about the bugs of the river and why they are so important to fish and the people fishing for them. Two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

  • Visit our River Partners - Conservation organizations representing both local and North state rivers and fisheries will be present so you can talk with them about issues of concern and how to fix them.  For the Organization names and links to them, click here -->   More Info...

 

Other Fun Activities during Saturday

  • Music - The Harmony Groove Band will perform in the afternoon to liven us up. In the evening around dinner, you will be entertained by Karrie O'Neill, singer/songwriter from Reno who sings and plays guitar. You will love it all.
  • There will be a Raffle & Silent Auction during the day of cool fishing and non-fishing items. Pre-purchase raffle tickets when purchasing entry and activities tickets.
  • We will also have a brief Live Auction in the evening after dinner. There will be special items to bid on. Do not miss it.

Food & Drinks - Day & Evening - Available for purchase at the event.

  • Lunch: BBQ gourmet sausages, hot dogs, condiments, and chips.
    ($6.00/person)
    Pay at the event.

  • Evening Dinner at 6 p.m. - BBQ items, vegetarian lasagna, side dishes, and desert.
    ($35/person)   Limited space. Pay at the event.  
    • 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Assorted Waters available all day for purchase at the event.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16th ACTIVITIES

Fly Fishing Related Activities - You Can Participate!

The events on Sunday are fee based that require advance registration and payment. They are dynamic, educational, and adventurous activities.

Sunday Paid($) Activities (Sign up and prepayment required):

  • Mike Pease, a Lower Yuba River and Lost Sierra Feather River guide and owner-operator of Fly Fishing Adventures with Mike Pease, will be guiding, on Sunday, a Half Day Walk and Wade Guide Trip on the Lower Yuba River.

  • This trip is for one or two anglers. Sunday guided fishing - $400.
    Only 1 trip available. SOLD!
  • Tom Page of the Reel Anglers Fly Shop in Grass Valley will be guiding, on Sunday, a Full Day Float Trip on the Lower Yuba River.

    This is a trip for one or two anglers. Sunday guided fishing - $550.

  • Clay Hash of Fly Fishing Traditions will be teaching a Fishing Technical Waters workshop on Sunday. This will be a 6 hour class that will cover guide tricks and wisdom for fishing technical waters.    More Info on this workshop...

  • South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) is offering docent guided Salmon Expeditions on Sunday. SYRCL’s Salmon Expeditions are an amazing opportunity for you, your family, and your friends to adventure down the Yuba River to see spawning salmon! Local river rafting guides, SYRCL educators, and trained volunteers will take community members down the lower Yuba River to learn about the salmon life cycle, river ecology, and local history. Participants will also learn about human impacts on these incredible fish as well as SYRCL's efforts to restore their habitats.

Sunday Free Activities:

Yuba Fest is providing free fly fishing related opportunities on Sunday

  • The FFI’s Fly Casting Skills Development program will be available on Sunday to work on your casting techniques. This activity is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • NCCFFI's Women Connect group will be hosting fly fishing opportunities on Sunday. You can learn more about Women Connect and sign up for fishing activities at their booth on Saturday.
